This Fence Is Hurting My Ass.

I will settle for the new 'middle-of-the-road' over the former Canadian Government, anyday. But then, I will settle for a 3-day-old piece of rodent-family roadkill covered in liquified batshit over the former Canadian Government, anyday. Go, Harper.

"Canada's new Conservative government is condemning the violence over incendiary editorial cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, while also advising that freedom of expression be used responsibly."

How is this refreshing? Thanks for asking. Paul Martin's response would have been somewhere along the lines of: "Come to dis country, our completely non-dongeeerous rioting friends - just show a hand-drawn cartoon of yourself for hhhhhI.D. at de bordaire - and show dose hhhhhAmerican cawksawkeeers dat eeef dey make fun of Muhammed, dey make fun of Canada!" Or something.

I will miss the Pinko Panther. Did I just coin a phrase there? That's a good one. It's still OK to make fun of white, French Canadians right? Just checking. I love our little talks. No more politics, David. There's a good lad.

You really are a twit sometimes, Pye. Our old government was "middle-of-the-road" too. In fact their financial policies were far more "conservative" than anything Harper is coming up with. I think you are too caught up in naming conventions and not policy - maybe if the previous party had changed it's name to the American-Lovin-Liberals you'd be all rah-rah! And have you been in the states so long that you are confusing former Prime Ministers? You got your wires crossed on who was Paul Martin and who was Jean Cretien - because Paul deed not spheek like dat!

Plus it was the Danish who made fun of Muhammad and not "Americans" as you said. So why you turn this issue into a Canada doesn't support the States comment is silly.

I am tired. Let me throw an addendum in here for my little cracker. I actually follow this stuff quite closely.

1.) The Windsor accent is not nearly as funny as the Quebec one. 2.) All I really care about on this site, as it's a stong and common theme here, is CAN-AM relations. Of which we're obviously going to see a huge improvement. 3.) I am far more caught up in niche pornography.

It was a comment re: Canada's response to the situation with the Danish which is foreshadowing (I hope) things to come re: MacKay's dealings with (eventually) the USA. Sitting on the fence, basically.

The more important quote from the article, which I know you were too busy masturbating to Janeane Garafalo movies to read, is:

"...Canada should play a leadership role in calming tensions because of its history of integrating various religious and ethnic groups into daily life."

And, as an aside, it WAS the Danish that made fun of Muhammad, so why are those smelly bastards walking around with Death to America signs? If people had been walking around with Death to Ricky signs, or Death to Canada signs, Bush would have stood up and backed our Northern Neighbors. Where the fuck is the support for us? McKay "commends Canadians that acted properly" but doesn't bother to hammer those that slam the United Staes for no reason. I swear liberals can never complain about the weather, because it's always sunny and 60 in Fantasy Land.

Pye, sometimes I think your concept of "CAN-AM" relations is that all is well and good as long as Canada rolls over, spreads its cheeks and takes whatever the US gives its northern friend in its southern region...kind of like when Ann Coulter sticks her strap-on of “righteousness” in your “freedom” hole. At least Janeane is tender.

DVS: perhaps the reason a good portion of the world doesn’t come rushing to morally support the US is because when a nation like Denmark has their embassies bombed all you seem to be worrying about is “smelly bastards” holding signs. Is this the same Bush who couldn’t be bothered to mention Canada when he thanked the nations of the world for their support after 9/11? I think the fantasy exists when you think there is currently “no reason” to criticize your country.

Dave, I think you should watch CBC's The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos because I think you might like it. Stroumboulopoulos reminds me a bit of you in his demeanor and delivery. Try it, you might like it. You can also view them as Pod casts. Visit: http://www.cbc.ca/thehour/archive/

Well yes, it was Danes. But our "offended", kaffiya-clad friends seem to conflate everything with the Americans and "Zionists." For example, do a search for photos of this week's ho-down in Tehran, and count the burning American flags.
